I hope you all are enjoying this beautiful weather!  There are a lot of fun events going on this weekend including Kidfest in Thousand Oaks - Macaroni Kid Conejo Valley will be there so be sure to stop by and say hi.

Well dear readers, we have finally found a new Publisher for Macaroni Kid Simi Valley-Moorpark!  It has been such a joy to be your Publisher for this past year, I will miss you all!

Long-Lasting Bubbles

Oh yes, it is that time of the year. The kids are dying to get outside and play. The sun is shining and what is more fun than bubbles? Oh how kids love blowing bubbles.

But those bubbles get expensive when the bubble solution goes so fast. And my kids definitely go through it fast! My solution is to make my own bubble mixture for the kids. 

Long Lasting Bubble Solution
Ingredients:
  • 1oz Dishwashing Detergent (Joy, Dawn or Palmolive work best)
  • 1oz Glycerin
  • 1 Cup of Water

Mix ingredients together ...

Saturday, April 21 through Sunday, April 22 - Day Out with Thomas at Filmore and Western Railway

Day Out with Thomas provides an opportunity for kids to take a ride on a 15-ton replica of Thomas and have their pictures taken with Sir Topham Hatt, the controller of Thomas' railway.  

Activities include petting zoos, miniature golf, bounce houses, face-painting, magic shows and a Thomas & Friends Imagination Station where you can Build with Mega Bloks® and participate in other Thomas-themed activities including stamps, temporary tattoos, hands-on arts and crafts, and a Thomas storytelling and video viewing area.

Sunday, April 22 - Kidfest 2012

Kidfest is an annual complimentary family event where children of all ages come together for a fun and unique day.  Exhibits from local community businesses are invited to showcase their products and/or services to an extremely desirable demographic.  Expected exhibitors at this local event include:  Macaroni Kid, Karate Studio, Gymnastic Studios, Restaurants, Clothing Stores, Summer Camps, Learning Centers, Private Schools, Doctor/Dentist Offices, and many more!  Expected activities for the kids will include:  Trucks, Arts & Crafts, Dog Agility Demo, Sporting Games/Demo, Live Music/DJ, Train Rides, Inflatable Jumpers, Rock Wall, and more!

Paint Pals has a host of activities to keep your kids creative spirit activated.  Pick a plaster figurine or plaque and paint it.  Sing karaoke while your figurine dries or even if you need to take a break.  How about sketching your shadow in our Shadow room.  Or surround yourself with a giant bubble.  Are you having fun yet?  There is even a maze to explore under black light.  And finally, stuff your own animal at Critter Corner.  So much to choose from.

Bring your kids to the Kids' Adventure Garden at the Conejo Valley Botanic Garden to learn all about nature, gardening, and the outdoors.  This lovely hands-on kids garden includes a tree house, zoo garden, hydroponic pond, arts and crafts and more.  Make a day out of it and take the kids for a nature walk through the gardens.  Or bring a picnic lunch and experience the cool park on site as well.

Tuesday, April 24 - Visit a movie ranch at Paramount Ranch - ONGOING

Dress up your little ones in their Western gear and go and explore Paramount Ranch.  The scene of many Western movies as well as many others, Paramount Ranch is a "movie ranch" complete with a Main Street lines with typical storefronts, such as a Sheriff's office, a blacksmith/livery, a surveyors office, a saloon, a Post Office, barns, and a Wells Fargo office. The ranch is open every day, from dawn til dusk, with business offices open 8 AM to 5 PM weekdays. The park also has restrooms, picnic tables (for about 100), and several hiking trails available, including a short 1/8 mile trail (to the south) overlooking willow shaded Medea Creek and the Western Town.

Make a trip up to beautiful Santa Barbara for this exciting event!  The star of the hit Nick, Jr series, Go, Diego, Go! visits the Zoo in person for photos with his fans.  Dora the Explorer's cousin, he's an 8 yr old action-adventure hero who loves nature, animals....and other kids!  In honor of his visit, the Zoo highlights creatures from South America plus related arts, crafts and activities!
